Certifications:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS):
Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. CSCS coaches are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Recognizing that their area of expertise is separate and distinct, CSCS® consult with and refer athletes to other professionals when appropriate.
Certified Athletic Trainer:
Certification through the Athletic Training Board of Certification. Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes. Athletic trainers are sometimes confused with personal trainers. There is, however, a large difference in the education, skillset, job duties and patients of an athletic trainer and a personal trainer. The athletic training academic curriculum and clinical training follows the medical model. Athletic trainers must graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or master’s program, and 70% of ATs have a master’s degree.
Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) (Level 1):
RPR is designed to immediately shift the body from survival to performance. Your body has two priorities for optimal performance; to breathe and move correctly. Most athletes do not, so their bodies find a way to meet those priorities by creating harmful compensation patterns. RPR acts as a way to change these compensation patterns back to proper patterns. Coach Rost will be taking Level 2 & 3 as soon as they are offered in this area.
Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES):
Corrective Exercise Specialists gain the tools to assess dysfunction and design programs to correct clients who are plagued by muscle and joint pain. These dysfunctions are usually caused by musculoskeletal imbalances, but these can be corrected by the knowledge of a Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES):
Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). The NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization can give you the expertise to improve the flexibility, speed, agility and performance of both professional athletes and weekend warriors.
Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC):
Distinction from the National Strength and Conditioning Association: The NSCA’s Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach® (RSCC) Program is a registry of individuals who have demonstrated experience and knowledge in their field. RSCC coaches apply foundational knowledge to assess, motivate, educate, and train athletes for the primary goal of improving sport performance. The RSCC Program encourages high standards of professional practice and responsibility.
